Drink clear fluids regularly to stay hydrated. Avoid acidic juices (like orange or pineapple) as they can irritate the extraction sites. For one-week post-surgery, drink from a cup and do not use straws. Good fluid options include water, as well as:
• Vitamin Water
• Gatorade
• Pedialyte
• Fruit juices
• Iced tea
• Ginger ale
• Decaffeinated sodas
• Fruit smoothies
• Ensure
• Protein shakes
• Milkshakes
• Lukewarm Coffee is okay after the first day
The following are food items we recommend after surgery. We advise that you plan ahead by preparing soft food items prior to surgery.
• Pasta
• Soups
• Mashed Potatoes
• Scrambled eggs
• Tofu
• Yogurt/Pudding/Jell-O
• Soft Fruit/Applesauce
• Ice Cream (no nuts/rocky road)
• Fresh Cooked Vegetables
Please avoid the following foods the first 7 days after surgery:
• Spicy Foods
• Crunchy foods
• Foods that are difficult to chew (ie. Nuts, hard bread or tough meat)
• Food that can get stuck in the extraction socket/incisions (ie. berries, seeds, grains of rice)
• Alcoholic Beverages
• Popcorn (avoid for a month)
